Create a Basic Home Page The mechanics of making your home page are pretty simple. The first step is to create a new page, then name the file, give it a title, and save it.... 3. Add Images Dreamweaver can handle basic image editing; for more demanding tasks use a dedicated graphics program... 4. Add Tables - Using tables to lay out a page, you can create pages more quickly and consistently. Tables also allow you to mix text, data, images, and headers, yet present it all in an easy to organize manner... 5. Use Style Sheets - In this chapter, we'll create several style sheets and use them to replace our home page's internal styles. We'll then create some additional styles within the main style sheet that can be applied to any page in the Web site... 6. Create Links - The Web's magic comes largely from the hyperlink, which lets Web users jump from page to image to email to almost anywhere on the Internet... 7. Reuse Items to Save Time - Think of the Assets tab as Dreamweaver's grand central timesaver. It automatically lists which images, color swatches, and external links you use on your site... 8. Add Navigation - We will start by adding a Nav-bar to your site's home page. (In our example, we're adding it to the Tuffits page.) Before we add the Nav-bar, however, we're going to create two layersone to hold the Nav-bar and one for the main area of the Web page... 9. Publish Site - Finally, you're ready to put your pages on the Web, a process sometimes called publishing since they'll become available for anyone to read. Dreamweaver's expanded Files panel, which displays files on the remote Web server along with those on your local machine, plays a key role in helping you keep track of which files are where and when they were last changed...
